End of Season Predictions - Chelsea Top 4?

Updated: Apr 8, 2019

Tony, a North Florida Blues original, has worked to predict each match for the top 6 for the remainder of the season:

EPL Final  Week Breakdown

________________________________________

Liverpool - 1st Place

 Matches Played 32 — 79 Points

33 - @ Southampton  - (W) - 3pts

34 - Chelsea - (D) - 1pt

35 - @ Cardiff City - (W) - 3pts

36 - Huddersfield - (W) - 3pts

37 - @ Newcastle (W) - 3pts

38 - Wolves (W) - 3pts Season Total : 96 Points Liverpool have drawn a favorable matchup this last stretch of the schedule. Chelsea may very well beat Liverpool as their main focus will be on the Champions League matchups with Porto FC bookending this match. Other than Chelsea, I only see Wolves as a team capable of taking points from ‘Pool at this point in the season. A more favorable end of season and Champions League draw seems likely to aid Liverpool in their title chase.

Manchester City - 2nd Place Matches Played 31 — 77 Points 32 - Cardiff City - (W) - 3pts

33 - @ Crystal Palace - (W) - 3pts

34 - Tottenham - (D) - 1 pt

35- @ Manchester United - (D) - 1 pt

36 - @ Burnley - (W) - 3pts

37 - Leicester City - (W) - 3pts

38 - @ Brighton - (W) - 3pts Season Total: 94 Points City have to play Tottenham 3 times in the span of 11 days. They also have the FA Cup Semi Final and most likely Final to contend with. Spurs and City both have a lot to play for in the League as well as in Champions League, I think everyone expects City to prevail but the implications of that match up are far reaching in the chase for the EPL title and Top 4.  ________________________________________

Manchester United - 3rd Place Matches Played 31 - 61 Points 32 - @ Wolves - (W) - 3pts

33- West Ham - (W) - 3pts

34- @ Everton - (D) - 1pt

35- Man City - (D) - 1pt

36- Chelsea - (D) - 1pt

37- @ Huddersfield - (W) - 3pts

38- Cardiff City - (W) - 3pts Season Total: 76 Points With enormous matches coming up against Barcelona in the Champions League, as well as a far-from-easy slate of matches at the end of the season, I expect Manchester United to fall in this round of UCL and for their main sight to be set on a top 4 finish. I believe they achieve that based on their consistent performances under Ole Gunnar.  ________________________________________

Chelsea - 4th Place  Matches Played 31 - 60pts 32 - Brighton - (W) - 3pts

33 - West Ham - (W) - 3pts

34 - @ Liverpool - (D) - 1pt

35 - Burnley - (W) - 3pts

36 - @ Manchester United - (D) - 1pt

37 - Watford - (D) - 1pt

38 - @ Leicester City - (W) - 3pts Season Total: 75 Points With all the chaos, antics, bullshit, bad calls, drama, and shit throwing that has been this season for Chelsea, we have somehow put ourselves in position to clinch a Champions League position in multiple ways. People have made claims that our schedule is more difficult towards the end of the season and this is true… but EVERY TEAM in contention for Top 4 has a very, very difficult double header mixed in with their schedule other than Chelsea: --Liverpool - Porto FC in UCL

--Manchester City - Tottenham in UCL

--Manchester United - Barcelona in UCL

--Arsenal - Napoli in Europa

--Tottenham - Manchester City in UCL

--Chelsea - ……………. Slavia Praha……. Exactly my point. Every team in top 6 is still in European contention and I cannot remember a time in my life that this was the case at this point in the season. This pressure and exhaustion to the other EPL teams’ first XIs will be impacted far greater than Chelsea who can continue to employ their 2nd team to take down Slavia Praha. We will still have to pull out some big results, but Top 4 and/or Europa Title are well within our reach.  ________________________________________

Arsenal - 5th - Tough match up with Napoli, a leaky defense and not so easy schedule will see the GOONers in Europa once again.

Tottenham - 6th - Crazy right!!? HARD TO BELIEVE THEY’VE TAKEN ONE POINT IN THEIR PAST 5 MATCHES!! This form combined with a triplet of matches in 11 days against City will see Spurs pushed to the bottom of the Top 6. This could be the undoing of Harry Kane and Spurs and the $200million price tag could be paid by either of the La Liga giants this summer.
